Position Summary 
The Director of College Guidance leads a signature academic department at Cristo Rey Brooklyn while also serving as a critical member of the school's leadership. This role and department lead CRB in fostering college awareness, providing college access, and promoting college success in our students and alumni. 

The Director serves as an advisor to and thought partner with the Principal on best practices in college matriculation, persistence, and completion. The Director must also be an active member of the school community, modeling good communication and full enforcement of school policies and student expectations at all times.

Major Responsibilities:
College Awareness: The Director is responsible for promoting awareness and interest in college among students from all grades. The Director is responsible for the ongoing development and implementation of a college counseling curriculum for juniors and seniors, supervises other counselors who teach the course, and will also teach sections of the College Counseling course.

College Access: The primary constituency of the Director of College Guidance is the senior class and their parents and guardians during the process of exploring, selecting, applying to and then obtaining sufficient financial support to attend college. The Director will have a caseload of seniors and supervise other counselors’ work with the remainder of the Senior class. 

College Persistence: The Director is responsible for managing and reporting on college enrollment, persistence, and completion data, utilizing resources such as the National Student Clearinghouse. The Director and its team is also responsible for regular support of all alumni currently enrolled in college (6 years or less) to successfully matriculate.

Major Duties:
➢ Track graduate matriculation data, scholarship and merit award data, and all college acceptances
➢ Nominate and manage 8 national Cristo Rey Network (CRN) scholarships, Posse and Questbridge Scholarships, and the Gerstner Scholars Program 
➢ Manage the completion of other scholarship applications as they become available
➢ Serve as the school's coordinator for the SAT Suite (and ACT exams, if applicable)
➢ Complete annual National Student Clearinghouse report to accurately receive enrollment and graduation information
➢ Create resources promoting college success, career readiness, and job placement
➢ Coordinate community-building alumni events
➢ Manage Decision Tracker and Gradeforce 
➢ Supervise and develop college counseling staff and volunteers
➢ Establish and maintain strategic partnerships with colleges and universities, host college fairs and visits by college representatives, and lead college visits and tours
➢ Plan and host Instant Decision Days and College Signing Day
➢ Serve as a collaborative member of the School's Leadership Team
➢ Co-Chair the Senior Activities Committee
➢ Manage the recommendation letter process (all College Counselors must write letters of recommendation for assigned students)
➢ Attend CRN College Counseling Meetings (virtual and in person) including College Summit 
➢ Offer workshops throughout the year to students and their parents and families
➢ Update School Profile as needed  

Position Requirements:
➢ 3+ years of relevant experience in college counseling/admissions is required
➢ Master’s degree in school counseling is preferred, not required 
➢ Knowledge of Scoir Software is preferred, not required
➢ Fluency in Creole and/or Spanish is a plus, not a requirement 

Compensation and Benefits: 
This is a 12-month position. The salary range for this position is $75,000-$90,000. The exact amount is commensurate with experience and education; it will be benchmarked with our peer local and Cristo Rey Network schools. Comprehensive benefits are included in the overall compensation package. 
Compensation: $75,000.00 per year
